Approach
Step 1 - Defined problem and goal

The Department of Graduation Affairs contacted our team because they were in need of a new application to be built within our ONE.UF student portal. The students who were ready to graduate needed a way to make sure they completed all of the steps needed before they could walk at commencement.

Step 2 - Determine users

We met with the Graduation Affairs staff and some recently graduated students to determine what they would need for the application. Currently the students had to rely on word of mouth, printed documents, and even Redit in order to find out what they needed to do before graduation.

Step 3 - Gather business rules and student-user's needs

We researched apps from other universities, and met with stakeholders and users to gather what we needed to start designing the interactions of the new app.

Step 4 - Test high-fidelity designs with students

Since it was a brand new application, we tested several types of interaction functionality with the students to see which was most usable and understandable. These included a left-menu design, collapsible panel design, and a timeline design.

Step 5 - Refine desktop and mobile designs

After several meetings with students and staff, we determined the final design. I then created high-fidelity mockups for desktop and mobile
